Movement That Matters: Spring Schedule

Whitman’s employee wellness program, Movement That Matters (MTM), returns in the spring semester, running from Tuesday, Jan. 20, through Friday, May 15. Five classes are offered each week:

  • Mondays from 12:10–12:50 p.m.
    Pilates with Kelli Pitzer in Sherwood 114
  • Tuesdays from 12:10–12:50 p.m.
    Strength and Stretch with Jen Cedeno in Sherwood 106
  • Wednesdays from 12:10–12:50 p.m.
    Power Pump with Kelli Pitzer in Sherwood 114 *new class*
  • Thursdays from 12:30–1:10 p.m. *new time*
    Yoga with Allie Keppel in Sherwood 114
  • Fridays from 12:10–12:50 p.m.
    Step Aerobics with Laura Cummings in Sherwood 106

To join, bring your $45 payment (cash or check) to the Student Accounts Office in Memorial Building, Room 233. Follow the MTM Google Calendar for an up-to-date class schedule.

New Cycling Event To Benefit Šináata Scholarship Fund

A new collaboration between Bicycle Rides Northwest, Visit Walla Walla and Whitman College has resulted in a five-day cycling event that will raise funds for the Šináata Scholarship at Whitman. Bike Camp Walla Walla will be hosted at Whitman from Sunday, June 7, through Friday, June 12, with long and short bike route options for riders to explore the Walla Walla area. Registration is now open.

QPR Suicide Prevention Training Next Month

The Welty Health and Counseling Center will provide suicide prevention training for our campus community in February. The QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) model has been proven to decrease suicide risk in communities like ours. 

  • For faculty and staff: Friday, Feb. 6, from 1–3 p.m. in Maxey 104 (RSVP)
  • For students: Tuesday, Feb. 10, from 6–8 p.m. in Maxey 104 (RSVP)

 Participants will be certified as a QPR Gatekeeper, valid for one year.
