Join us for the Career and Community Fair on Thursday, March 5, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Reid Campus Center’s Young Ballroom. (Flyer attached.)
This event is a great opportunity to learn more about 30+ employers representing a wide range of organizations and connect directly with local recruiters. You can learn about volunteer opportunities, as well as full-time and part-time jobs and both paid and unpaid internships. Attendees will also be able to take a free LinkedIn headshot at the event.
Come prepared to engage and ask questions. Career coaches in the Career and Community Engagement Center are available to help you prepare your resume and questions for recruiters. Schedule an appointment via Handshake or stop by and meet with a Student Career Advisor.

Religion Professor Receives Fulbright Scholarship
|
Associate Professor of Religion Lauren Osborne has received a Fulbright Scholar Award—her third federal grant in two years, following two fellowships from the Center for Arabic Study Abroad that have supported her work in Morocco thus far. On the Fulbright, Osborne will return to Morocco for Spring 2027 to continue her field research in support of her book project, “The Quranic Sensorium: Textual and Affective Epistemologies.” The book examines the Qur'an in relation to the human senses: in the text, in Islamic intellectual tradition and in everyday religious life in Morocco.

Global Ecocinema Series Continues Today
|
The “Global Ecocinema: Environmental Storytelling and Social Justice Through Visual Media” series continues with a screening of the Japanese film “Evil Does Not Exist” (2023) on Wednesday, March 4, at 6 p.m. in Olin Auditorium. This series is made possible with the support of a Global Dialogues Faculty Development Grant and the Center for Global Studies at Whitman College, in collaboration with the Departments of Hispanic Studies and Asian and Middle Eastern Studies. Gleaning Film Screening Today
|
The Food Justice Project, the Glean Team and La Maison interest house will co-host a film screening of “The Gleaners and I” (2000) on Wednesday, March 4, at 6 p.m. in Olin 129. In this Criterion Collection film, French cinema icon Agnès Varda explores the world of modern-day gleaners. Pizza will be served at the screening. Please RSVP in advance. (Flyer attached.)

Religion Department Perry Lecture Tomorrow
|
The annual Genevieve Perry Lecture in the Study of Religion will take place on Thursday, March 5, at 5 p.m. in the Hall of Science’s Brattain Auditorium. Kathryn Gin Lum is Professor and Chair of Religious Studies at Stanford University and Director of the American Religions in a Global Context initiative. Her talk is titled “Heathen: Religion and Race in American History.” (Flyer attached.)

The Interest House Community (IHC) offers a chance to live, learn and grow with others who share your passions—from languages to wellness to the environment. Applications are due by Sunday, March 8.
