Whitman Research on Woodpeckers Published
|
Research Scientist and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Biology Ben Vernasco recently published new studies in the Journal of Field Ornithology and in Ornithological Applications that describe the distributions and ecology of two woodpecker species in the Umatilla and Wallowa-Whitman National Forests. Both publications were Whitman senior thesis projects during the 2024–2025 academic year. These works facilitate data-driven approaches to forest management and were recently highlighted in the Whitman Wire.
