Student Journeys Through the CCEC

By Kim Rolfe, Director of the Career and Community Engagement Center

The CCEC takes an integrated, holistic approach to its three main areas of work, all collaborating around the student experience.

As students progress through their time at Whitman, their trajectories typically involve a diverse range of immersive learning experiences that take place inside and outside of the classroom. The Career and Community Engagement Center (CCEC) is here to engage with students through programs and resources as they seek out opportunities that enhance the learning they gain through their courses by placing that learning in new contexts, such as fellowships, volunteering, leadership development, mentorship with alumni, internships, research and more.

One of the tools the CCEC frequently uses to help students consider how they might scaffold and connect these many experiences as they move toward a particular goal is the Four-Phase Plan. This road map to programs, resources and opportunities—across campus, the community and the world—helps students develop a plan that can flex to meet their interests.

This year, we will be sharing student stories that highlight some of the varied ways they are engaging on and off campus in immersive experiences. These stories are intended to illuminate the integrated ways that students tap into a variety of opportunities, with support from the CCEC, to build their path to personal and professional growth.

If you would like to learn more about any of the programs or resources available through the CCEC, please reach out to any of our team members.
