Semester in the West Students Return to Campus

A group of people sit on rounded rocks with mountains visible in the background.

Semester in the West has returned from 14 weeks of field studies in the Western United States. From northern Washington state to the U.S.-Mexico border, the group traveled nearly 7,000 miles and made camp at 25 locations.

Semester in the West students engaged with a host of community partners to tackle many environmental issues of the American West, including water use in arid regions, forestry, environmentalism and endangered species, industrial agriculture, ranching, permaculture and more.

Please join us today and tomorrow for “Western Relations” presentations to hear more about these complex issues and the stories that weave them together. (Flyer attached.)

  • Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 4–6 p.m. (livestream)
  • Wednesday, Dec. 3, from 4–6 p.m. (livestream)

Presentations will take place in the Reid Campus Center Young Ballroom. A reception will follow at a student-created art exhibition in the Fouts Center for Visual Arts.

Visit the Semester in the West website and Instagram account to see more photos, read blog posts and learn more about where they traveled.
