Community Learning Days provide Whitman faculty and staff with access to essential information and valuable learning opportunities prior to the start of each semester. Community Learning Days help faculty and staff prepare for the arrival and return of our students by providing information about the changing needs and demographic profile of Whitman students, while also building capacity to advance inclusive excellence.

“Embracing Neurodiversity: Unpacking Neurotypical Privilege and Unlocking Neurodiverse Superpowers”

Love is an experienced higher education professional, consultant, mentor and leader, committed to interrupting ableism and sharing information about neurodiversity. She has delivered presentations on neurodiversity and neurotypical privilege on the TEDx stage and national conferences. This engaging session is one of several opportunities this semester intended to help provide our community with the knowledge, tools and strategies necessary to create truly inclusive environments.

A new session of Whitman’s employee wellness program Movement That Matters (MTM) begins on Tuesday, Jan. 21. This program offers five different classes each week during the noon hour in Sherwood 106 and 114:
|
- Mondays: Pilates (Kelli Pitzer)
- Tuesdays: MELT (Kristi Kiefel)
- Wednesdays: Strength & Stretch (Jen Cedeno)
- Thursdays: Step Aerobics (Laura Cummings)
- Fridays: Yoga (Christel Joy Johnson)

For a $45 enrollment fee per semester, payable at the Student Accounts Office in MEM 233, participants can participate in as many or as few classes as they like. The program is open to current and retired Whitman employees and their spouses/partners.

President Joe Biden declared Thursday, Jan. 9, as a National Day of Mourning to honor the legacy of Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States. Please note that while the Whitman College Post Office will be open to receive your mailing requests and deliver any mail already received, the United States Post Office will not be in operation today.

Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration

Please join us for the 2025 Day of Celebration Legacy Walk & Community Service on Monday, Jan. 20, at noon. (Flyer attached.) Meet at the Reid Campus Center for opening remarks and light refreshments before walking to Gesa Power House Theatre for a keynote address by Dr. Jace Saplan, Senior Director of Identity and Belonging. The afternoon will conclude with opportunities for community service.
