Countdown to the 138th Commencement Ceremony

Whitman College degree candidates will soon cross the stage in front of Memorial Building and mark a significant milestone in their lives—at Whitman College’s 138th Commencement. On Sunday, May 19, more than 300 scholars majoring in disciplines from across academic divisions will receive their diplomas.
Here’s a preview of how the college and Whitman community will commemorate this joyous occasion, and celebrate the exceptional accomplishments and bright futures of its Class of 2024.

- Wednesday, May 15 at 10 a.m. in the Reid Campus Center Young Ballroom - Blues Brunch for the Class of 2024, hosted by Alumni Relations.
- Thursday, May 16 at 5 p.m. in the Reid Campus Center Young Ballroom - Athletic Awards.
- Friday, May 17 at 5 p.m. in the Reid Campus Center Young Ballroom - Intercultural Excellence Stole Ceremony.
- Saturday, May 18 at 2:30 p.m. in Cordiner Hall - Baccalaureate ceremony with keynote address by the Venerable Thubten Chodron.
- Sunday, May 19 at 11 a.m. in front of Memorial Building - Commencement ceremony with Class of 2024 speaker Shola Mau ’24 and keynote address by Cecilia Kang ’94.

Two Students Receive Civic Leadership Awards
|
Margaret Kanyoko ’25 and Jonathan Becker ’26 were recently honored as recipients of the Washington Campus Coalition for the Public Good’s Student Civic Leadership Award at an award ceremony at the Museum of Flight in Seattle. The two students were nominated by members of the Whitman community and selected by President Sarah Bolton to receive this honor for their engagement with the Walla Walla community and their leadership on campus.

Your feedback is important to Whitman College. All graduates who complete the survey are invited to pick up a complimentary Whitman College luggage tag at the Blues Brunch on Wednesday, May 15.

Harper Joy Theatre Announces 2024–2025 Season

Harper Joy Theatre recently announced the six shows that will make up the 2024–2025 season. If you missed the season announcement event last week, the presentation slides with more information are available to view. Auditions will take place at the beginning of fall semester.
