Whitman Offers Summer Activities for Youth

Each summer, Whitman College offers several summer camp opportunities for local youth, from kindergarten to high school. This year, the options include:

  • June 9–12 or June 16–19:
    • Boys Basketball (grades 2–5)
    • Boys Basketball (grades 6–8)
  • June 16–19:
    • Girls Basketball (grades 2–8)
  • June 23–27: 
    • Youth Choir (grades 1–6)
  • June 24–26:
    • Co-ed Soccer (grades 1–6)
  • June 30 to July 1:
    • Girls Basketball (grades 7–12)
  • July 21–22:
    • Girls Volleyball: Prospects (high school)
    • Girls Volleyball: Setters (high school)
  • Aug. 9:
    • Boys Basketball (high school)
    • Boys Soccer (high school)
  • Aug. 10:
    • Girls Soccer (high school and junior college)
  • Aug. 12–14:
    • Co-Ed Volleyball (grades K–4)
    • Co-Ed Volleyball (grades 5–12)

Noteworthy

Baseball Student-Athlete Receives ABCA Honors

For the second straight season, Whitman baseball catcher and designated hitter Halen Otte ’26 has been named to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings All-West Region Team. The rising senior earned a Second Team nod this season after garnering a Third Team selection the previous year. Otte was one of the top hitters in the Northwest Conference (NWC) this year and was named First Team All-NWC for the second straight season.

Planning Team On Campus This Week

Whitman College is undertaking a Campus Framework Plan strategic initiative to guide long-term growth and development of our campus. Please note that a team of architects and planners will be on site this week to assess our physical facilities. Listening sessions will be announced later this year. Questions? Athletic Facilities Summer Hours Update

Sherwood Athletic Center (building and sauna hours):

  • Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturday–Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Climbing Center:

  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 6–9 p.m.
  • Sunday, 2–5 p.m.

Baker Ferguson Fitness Center:

  • Monday–Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3:30–7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday–Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Harvey Pool:

  • Monday, Wednesday, 7:30–9 a.m., noon–1:30 p.m., 8–10 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Thursday, 7–8:30 a.m., noon–1:30 p.m., 8–10 p.m.
  • Friday, 7:30–9 a.m., noon–1 p.m.
  • Saturday–Sunday, 3–4:30 p.m.

Bratton Indoor Tennis Center (students, faculty, staff):

  • Daily, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Bratton Indoor Tennis Center (community members):

  • Monday–Friday, 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • Saturday–Sunday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
 

Campus Dining This Summer

Jewett Cafe: (June 2–6 menu attached.)

  • Monday–Friday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Saturday–Sunday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Students who purchase a 2025 Summer Dining Plan will receive 100% matching funds from Whitman College. (Flyer attached.)

Students who will be on campus or in the Walla Walla area for the summer are invited to join a Summer 2025 Google Group (listserv).
