The Third Space Speaker Series continues today with a talk by Connie Wun, Ph.D., on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. in Olin Auditorium—following the opening of the Third Space Center earlier in the day at 4 p.m. on the lawn by Fouts Center for Visual Arts. (Flyer attached.)

Wun is one of the co-founders of AAPI Women Lead, a queer, feminist, survivor-led and former sex-worker-led, community-based, intergenerational organization that works to end violence against Asian, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander women, girls and non-binary communities. She is also a co-editor for the anthology “Abolition for the People” with Colin Kaepernick and Christopher Petrella.

Wun is a former National Science Foundation Fellow, Soros Justice Fellow, UC Berkeley Chancellor’s Fellow, and received the Excellence in Civil Rights Award from the California Asian American and Pacific Islander Legislative Caucus in 2021. She earned her doctorate in Education from the University of California and is a scholar of race and gender-based violence, and a community organizer. Wun has been published in academic journals, anthologies, online platforms, and has appeared on Democracy Now!, MSNBC, NPR and a range of podcasts.

Emergency Preparedness Training Tomorrow
|
Please plan to attend one of the four identical training sessions on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at 10 a.m., Noon., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. in Maxey Auditorium. Each hour-long training session will begin with an overview on various emergency scenarios, and then focus more in-depth on how to respond in the case of an active shooter on campus. The sessions will be presented by EPS, a consulting firm that specializes in emergency management for institutions of higher learning.

Fall Job & Internship Fair Tomorrow

The Fall Job and Internship Fair will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Reid Campus Center Young Ballroom. This event is an excellent opportunity for students to learn about 14 different organizations and get face time with recruiters.

Nominations Open for Resident Assistants

The Residence Life and Housing Office seeks nominations of students (sophomore and above) to be a Resident Assistant (RA) for the 2025 calendar year. Students, staff and faculty are all encouraged to nominate students who they think would make a great RA.
