With the guidance of the Fellowships and Grants team in the Career and Community Engagement Center, Whitman students and alumni are awarded many grants, fellowships and scholarships each year to continue their education and service beyond our campus.
In the last 15 years, more than 500 Whitties have earned prestigious fellowships and grants. The 2023–2024 academic year was no different, with successful applicants to the following programs.

Rising Senior on Economics Research Team
|
This summer, Economics major Allegria Iteka ’25 is a research assistant at the University of Chicago’s Becker Friedman Institute for Economics. Working on a team led by John List, Distinguished Service Professor at the University of Chicago, Iteka is contributing to groundbreaking research in experimental economics.

Last Call for FY2024 Chrome River Submittals
|
As a final reminder, all FY2024 Chrome River expense reports must be complete (with all approvals) by the end of the day! Staff and faculty are reminded to double-check their Chrome River accounts to verify all FY2024 expense reports (including all credit card transactions made before June 30) have been submitted and approved. Visitors on Campus: MFA Writers Conference
|
This week, you may encounter some visitors on campus who are here for a conference for alumni of the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College in North Carolina. Conference programming will take place in Reid Campus Center.

Fire Alarm Testing Continues
|
Annual inspections of campus fire alarm systems (smoke detectors, heat detectors, pull stations, horns, strobes) continue this week. Testing will begin around 8 a.m. and last from 2–4 hours (see calendar below for specific locations). During this time, occupants may hear brief intermittent sounding of the audible fire alarm.
