The 2026 Power and Privilege Symposium, with the theme of “Belonging in the Face of Power,” will take place on Thursday, Feb. 19.

Are you interested in exploring how belonging is built or denied in spaces shaped by power and what it takes to practice community intentionally? Applications to lead Power and Privilege Symposium sessions are due on Sunday, Dec. 21.

This year’s symposium theme invites our community to examine how belonging is built through daily choices to show up for one another. If you want to explore how intentional action, accountability and care can transform communities, we hope you submit an application!

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the session application process, please email Operations Director Aaliyah Howard ’27, at howarda@whitman.edu. If you have any other questions regarding the symposium, please email Executive Director Marco Nou ’29, at symposium_chair@whitman.edu.

Earlier in the semester, Geology students injected corn syrup into gelatin “volcanoes” to study where eruptions are most likely to occur. See more photos on Instagram.
