Whitman Internship Grant: Student Stories

Whitman’s Career and Community Engagement Center (CCEC) provides career prep and resources, including hands-on, paid internships through the Whitman Internship Grant (WIG), which gives students invaluable experiences across various industries, both in the U.S. and globally.

In this series, students share inspiring stories of how they’ve leveraged the WIG to explore work in tech startups, environmental organizations, art galleries, public health initiatives and more.

Gage Hembree ’27, who is an Economics and Politics double major, interned at Sorority/Fraternity Law Group in Phoenix, Arizona, this past summer. He says his internship helped him develop various skills and led him to realize his next step after graduation.

“This summer internship was a fantastic experience and affirmed that I want to continue pursuing a law career. Being able to work day to day in a law firm and with other attorneys made it clear to me that I am well-suited and would enjoy this type of work.”

The CCEC is accepting WIG applications for the Spring 2026 semester. Apply online by Monday, Jan. 26, 2026.
