Gwendolyn Trice has been selected as speaker for Whitman College’s 140th Commencement Ceremony on May 24. Trice is Founder and Executive Director of the Maxville Heritage Interpretive Center in Enterprise, Oregon, which celebrates the rich history of African American, Indigenous and immigrant loggers in the Pacific Northwest.

Black Student Union Accepts Inaugural Proclamation
|
- Mahdee Kirkpatrick ’27, president of Whitman’s Black Student Union, accepted a proclamation for Black History Month presented by the City of Walla Walla. Video.
- First formal recognition of Black History Month by the city, as far as could be determined from recent historic city records.
- This month, the Black Student Union is hosting Council Member Rodney Outlaw as a keynote speaker for an event titled “We Are Still Here.”
