The 10% Promise: Personalized, Predictable Tuition

For many students and families, one of the most challenging parts of the college search process is understanding what college will actually cost. Whitman College has launched a first-of-its-kind financial commitment designed to take the guesswork out of paying for college.
The Whitman 10% Promise guarantees that students will never pay more than 10% of their family’s income for tuition.
The financial aid process has long been a source of stress and confusion for families. Understanding what tuition will actually cost can take months of paperwork, and even then the numbers aren’t always clear.
“The current financial aid system is a hassle for families. It can be really confusing and opaque, and many families feel left out,” says Adam Miller, Vice President for Admission and Financial Aid. “Understanding the cost of college should not take months or create additional stress, and we are committed to doing everything we can to make it simpler and easier for students and families to engage with financial aid from the first moment they encounter Whitman.”

Tennis Players Earn ITA Honors
|
Five Blues across both of Whitman’s tennis teams have received recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). On the women’s team, Nana Vang ’28 garnered ITA All-American honors in both singles and doubles after capturing both titles at the ITA Fall Northwest Regional Championships. Her doubles partner Sascha Wells ’26 also earned All-American recognition. On the men’s team, Alexander Stage ’27 earned ITA All-American honors in singles after winning the Fall Northwest Regional title. Artem Manov ’26 and Charles Rush ’26 secured All-American status following their championship run in the fall regional tournament.

Fire Alarm Testing Scheduled
|
Annual inspections of campus fire alarm systems continue this week. Testing will begin each day around 7 a.m. and will continue until testing in that building is finished (see calendar below for specific locations). Occupants can expect to see technicians from Hays Electric. During the first part of their visit to each building, there will be intermittent sounding of the audible fire alarm.

Friday Is a Half Day on Campus
|
Most college offices will close at noon on Friday, June 26, as one of several discretionary staff half days scheduled throughout the summer.
