The Outdoor Program is proud to be hosting one special night of action-packed adventure and mountain films!

The Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival World Tour will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m. in Cordiner Hall. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. (Watch the trailer.)

The night will include some of the best films picked from the hundreds of films entered into the annual Banff Centre Mountain Film Festival held this past November in Canada. There will also be giveaways from local sponsors, including Bicycle Barn, Ski Bluewood, Adventure Fit, Blue Mountain Credit Union, Eagle Crest Property Management, Greg Lehman Photography, Dusty’s Ski Shop and more.

Admission is free for Whitman faculty, staff and students with their ID. Tickets for community members are available starting today in the Outdoor Program Rental Shop in Reid Campus Center.

This week, the Rental Shop is open on Monday, Jan. 12, and Friday, Jan. 16, from 2–4 p.m. Starting on Tuesday, Jan. 20, the Rental Shop returns to standard hours of Monday/Wednesday/Friday, from noon to 5 p.m. and Tuesday/Thursday, from noon to 3 p.m.

Advocacy Alert

Act Now To Restore Washington College Grant Funding Levels for Our Students

Last May, the Washington state budget was finalized with provisions that significantly cut the Washington College Grant and College Bound Scholarship awards for students attending private colleges and universities. Recently, some policymakers have recognized the inequity of cutting aid to students simply on the basis of their school choice, and have introduced a bill that will restore award levels for the students we serve.

We encourage you to support legislation that will restore full access to the Washington College Grant and College Bound Scholarship awards for students choosing Whitman College.

Follow these simple instructions to quickly communicate your support to the Washington Senate Committee on Higher Education & Workforce Development.

The deadline for comments is Thursday, Jan. 15, at noon.

Your action can help ensure that Washingtonians who choose Whitman have fair access to state funding resources.
